This monograph, is part of a larger study of the roots of Christian antisemitism as expressed in the "Chosen people" conflict between Jews and Christians. This work attempts to draw a religious-spiritual portrait of Justin as a dedicated and enthusiastic apologist of the Gentile Christian church. It pays special attention to matters connected with his propaganda war against Judaism' particularly the Election Polemic.

The present work is based upon Flusser’s 1968 edition of Jesus. Yet, with the passage of 30 years, the new volume has been essentially rewritten to incorporate the wealth of new data. Whereas the previous book, now out of print, represented the beginnings of Flusser’s investigation into the historical Jesus, the present volume is its culmination.

This book is a continuation of the previous book History of Poetry in Muslim Spain . It describes the history of Hebrew poetry in Spain from the 12th century up to the 15th century. Shirman and Fleisher, important researchers in the field, tell a story of poets and story tellers that continued the huge Andalusian literary tradition. The present volume is the fourth in the Collected Works of the late Professor Shlomo Pines. The studies reprinted in this volume have been divided into two categories. In the first part have been reprinted essays dealing with various topics in the history of religion in antiquity. The second part includes seminal studies published by Pines on aspects of Jewish Christianity.

Marcel Simon's classic study examines Jewish–Christian relations in the Roman Empire from the second Jewish War (132–5 CE) to the end of the Jewish Patriarchate in 425 CE. First published in French in 1948, the book overturns the then commonly held view that the Jewish and Christian communities gradually ceased to interact and that the Jews gave up proselytizing among the Gentiles. On the contrary, Simon maintains that Judaism continued to make its influence felt in the world at large and to be influenced by it in turn. He analyses both the antagonisms and the attractions between the two faiths and concludes with a discussion of the eventual disappearance of Judaism as a missionary religion. The rival community triumphed with the help of a Christian imperial authority and a doctrine well adapted to the Graeco-Roman mentality.

The writings of Yehezkel Kaufman (1889-1963), late Professor of Bible at the Hebrew University of Jerusalem, fall into three main categories: Bible studies, of which the four-volume History of the Religion of Israel is the magnum opus; socio-historical analysis of Jewry's fate and existence as a diaspora-nation community, with the two-volume Golah ve-Nekhar (Exile and Estrangement) being its most outstanding scholarly undertaking in this regard; finally topical articles dealing with immediate socio-political problems of Zionism and the emerging State of Israel. This book comprises three successive chapters from Yehezkel Kaufman's Golah ve-Nekhar which, though intrinsically related to the central topic of that work, constitute a distinct unit of its own. This collection of essays is meant to introduce the Christian Kabbalah and its evolution. One of the main interests of this book is the analysis of Latin texts translations written by Flavius Mitridates of the Kabbalah. Wirszubski found that Mitridates divided the texts into two currents: Christianity and sorcery. He also found that Pico Dela Mirendulas writings about the Christian Kabbalah were very much influenced by the Mitridates translations and full of misunderstandings.

For over three decades, Professor David Flusser of the Hebrew University of Jerusalem has been pioneering new understandings of the Jewish background of early Christianity. Many have been fascinated by his unique monograph on Jesus, translated into several languages. Many of his scholarly articles in English have been collected in this volume.
