Over the past two decades, advanced technologies and space missions have completely transformed our understanding of potential life beyond Earth. The resulting field, astrobiology, has become a multidisciplinary scientific discipline, encompassing many of the natural sciences and having implications for many areas of research. This book presents an introduction and overview of astrobiology. It deals with a wide range of fields, from the search for signs of life on planets in our solar system, to the discovery of exoplanets in distant solar systems and assessing the potential for life there. The book is based on the course of the same name that the author taught for more than two decades at the Hebrew University, and the course recorded on YouTube in the Cornerstones program , which has accumulated tens of thousands of views. Mithabrim: Syntax for Higher Levels is a practice, comprehension and expression booklet on syntax topics. The booklet is intended for advanced students according to the curriculum of the Hebrew Teaching Unit at the Hebrew University of Jerusalem. The booklet has two purposes. The first of which is the acquisition and practice of syntactic components and structures at the advanced levels. The topics are practiced in several ways: open exercises, closed exercises, conversions, rewrites. Some of the grammatical topics are preceded by a short grammatical explanation for that section, and at the end of the booklet there are tables related to the syntactic topics as well as solutions to the closed exercises. The second goal of Mithabrim is to cultivate students' comprehension and expression skills with the help of reading passages (essays, articles, etc.). The reading sections, which incorporate the new syntactic topic, deal with different and diverse contents. This is the infrastructure for the activity of reading comprehension and the activity of oral or written expression. For each section, both comprehension questions that relate to the content of the section and expression questions that encourage discussion and conversation on the topic have been added.

Here and Now - Part 1 is the first of two booklets intended for learners who wish to focus on colloquial Hebrew and improve their communication skills. The emphasis in the booklet is on everyday topics, such as objects, body parts, clothes, money, writing messages and more. With the help of these topics, students learn vocabulary and syntactic structures that allow them to express themselves freely already at beginner levels. In Here and Now - Part 2 , the follow-up booklet, learners can deepen and expand their expressive skills.

Here and Now - Part 2 is the second of two booklets intended for those who wish to practice conversation, listening, writing and reading on everyday topics and situations. The booklet consists of five units, each of which focuses on a different aspect of life: movement, apartment, meal, work, family, politics and writing emails. Each unit has appropriate vocabulary, dialogues to read or listen, grammar and exercises that encourage written and oral expression. Following on from the booklet Here and Now - Part 1 , the purpose of the booklet is to instill a sense of security among Hebrew learners and make them masters of the Hebrew language. The materials are suitable for intermediate levels.

In the book From the Word to the Sentence , advanced Hebrew learners deal with the syntax system and the morphology of the Hebrew language. The book repeats structures and forms learned at lower levels and combines them in contexts adapted to the exemption level in terms of vocabulary. It also deals extensively with structures used in high literary and academic writing. At the beginning of the book there is a table of the morphological and syntactic items taught at all levels in the Hebrew teaching unit at the Hebrew University. These grammatical items serve as an outline for the contents of the book. The book opens with the parts of speech and different types of conjunctions and continues with dealing with different types of sentences. Each chapter discusses one topic, and it opens with a poem that includes or demonstrates the use of the structure discussed in the chapter. Below are detailed and in-depth explanations, tables and comments. The practice is done through many and varied exercises both in sentences and in cloze exercises, which can also be seen as texts for discussion and as a basis for expression. The solutions are given at the end of the book.

Despite many decades of research, we seem to linger in a state of confusion regarding what leadership is and if or how it might be cultivated. The book offers a new perspective on leadership, whereby what defines leadership is not one’s position or successful conduct but action of a certain kind. More specifically, leadership is about realizing the human potential to think, create or act outside the boundaries of what is known and safe in order to serve the greater good. What distinguishes “acts of leadership” is that they take place in a sphere of ambiguity and uncertainty. As such, acts of leadership are essentially risky, bold and adventurous. Obstacles and opponents are to be expected and no measure of success can be guaranteed. By placing leadership in its unique sphere of action, we realize that widely accepted prescriptions for rational or sensible conduct do not apply and that relying on them may shut us down before we even begin. We further appreciate that such acts exemplify “action” in its deepest sense: what we choose to do as free individuals in an uncertain universe, and how we do it, is a self-defining act; it makes us who we are.
