Juan Ruiz

Juan Ruiz named Archpriest of Hita was born in Henares de Alcala, was nominated by the Archbishop of Toledo Gil de Albornoz and after a conflict was arrested by him. Was imprisoned in the years 1330-1343 where he wrote the book "Libro De Buen Amor". Though his lack of formal academic education, he had a broad knowledge and is considered an important scholar. His work had a direct impact on the works of Cervantes, Fernando de Rojas, Bocaccio, La Fontaine, Chaucer and others.
