Yaron Niv

Yaron Niv is a Clinical Professor of Medicine at Ariel University in Israel. He graduated from Tel Aviv University Medical School, did his internship and residency in internal medicine and gastroenterology at Sheba Medical Center. He did his postdoctoral work at UCSF and was a visiting pro¬fessor at Baylor University Medical Center in Dallas, UCSD San Diego, and the Autonomous University of Madrid, Spain. His research concerns the biology and screening of colorectal cancer, Helicobacter pylori-related diseases, mucin secretion in the gastrointestinal tract, quality assur¬ance, and patient safety. He was till recently the Senior Deputy Director General of the Israeli Ministry of Health and responsible for the quality of medical treatment and patient safety. During the COVID-19 pandemic, Prof. Niv served as the Chairman of the National Quality and Inspection Committee for COVID-19 disease patients admitted to general hospitals, Chairman of the National Risk Management Committee for COVID-19 pandemic and immunizations, and Chairman of the National Team for Ventilation and ARDS of Covid-19 Pandemic (2020–2022). He was the founder and president of the Israeli Society of Patient Safety and Risk Management in Medicine (NASBAR/ISRM). He has published more than 400 articles in high-quality peer-reviewed journals.
