Dr. Amitai Mendelsohn is the Curator of Israeli Art in the Israel Museum, Jerusalem.

He holds an M.A. in Art History from the Hebrew University, Jerusalem, and finished his Doctorate in Israeli Art in the Ben-Gurion University of the Negev. His PhD. Thesis focused on the figure of Jesus in Jewish and Israeli Art.
Mendelsohn has curated many shows in the Israel Museum, among them:

 “Table for Two: Avraham Ofek and Micha Ullman” (1999), “Michael Sgan-Cohen: A Retrospective” (2004), “Prophets and Visionaries: Reuven Rubin’s Early Years, 1914-23” (2006), “Michal Helfman: Just Be Good To Me” (2007), and “Real Time: Art In Israel, 1998 – 2008” (2008) (Co- curated with Efrat Natan).

In 2016 he curated  the permanent exhibition of Israeli Art in the renewed Israel Museum, and opened a large show presenting the figure of Jesus in Israeli Art, based on his Doctorate.
