Andre Neher (1988-1914), the main designer of the spiritual character of French Jewry after World War II. He served as head of the Institute of Jewish Studies at the University of Strasbourg, before immigrating to Israel in 1974, and later served as a lecturer at Tel Aviv University. Neher authored twenty books on the Bible and Jewish thought, some of which were translated into many languages.
