אריה עודד

Dr Arye Oded started his diplomatic career in Uganda in 1961. In the 1970`s, during the breaking of relations with Africa, he was an ``Israel Interest Officer`` in Kenya and the Permanent Representative of Israel in UNEP and Habitat. In the 1990`s, he served as Israel`s Ambassador in Swaziland and Kenya and as non-resident Ambassador in Lesotho, Zambia, Mauricius and the Seychelles. On his retirement he joined the departments of African studies of Tel Aviv University and Jerusalem Hebrew University. Currently he is a Research Fellow at the Abba Even Center for Israeli Diplomacy of the Hebrew University. Dr. Oded has ublished books and articles on Africa-Israel relations, Islam and Judaism in Africa and the Kiswahili language
