ד ר יצחק (יוליוס) פרויס

Julius Preuss (1861-1913) was born in a small village in Prussia where his family was the only Jewish one. During his medicine studies in Berlin he was approximate to the Orthodox community, where he acquired most of his deep knowledge of Judaism. During his life he published in various publications more than 30 articles on Judaism and medicine while managing a clinic in his home town and later in Berlin. Preuss passed away two years after publishing this book that is based on his articles.

Originally published in German the book was translated to English by Dr. Fred Rosner and published in the USA in 1978. In 1998 during a halakhah, Medicine and law conference held in Jerusalem the book was cited as waiting for a Hebrew redeemer. The Hebrew translator kept rigor to the German origin while expanding quotes from the book’s citations and combined modern commentary.
