The late Professor Israel M. Ta-Shma was professor of Talmud at The Hebrew University in Jerusalem. He has won the Israel Prize,The EMET Prize for Art, Science and Culture and the Bialik Prize. Ta-shma has published several books and about a hundred and fifty papers and articles about the history of medieval rabbinic literature and the study of ancient Jewish custom.
