Martin Heidegger is perhaps the most important and influential philosopher of the 20th century. His thought spans over a 50 year period, from the twenties to the seventies. He is mainly occupied with the question of Being, that is, what does it mean to be. His thought has an enormous span of influence on philosophy, mainly on French thought from the sixties onward. His influence reaches also the beginning of the 21st century.
