Abraham Halevi Fraenkel

Prof. Avraham Halevi Fraenkel was a renowned mathematician whose scientific contribution to Set Theory is a cornerstone in the development of modern mathematics. A friend of Albert Einstein, he knew many of the prominent mathematicians of the early twentieth century personally. Fraenkel was one of the founders of the Hebrew University, served as dean of the Faculty of Humanities, as the first dean of the Faculty of Mathematics and Natural Sciences, and as rector of the university. He was a laureate of the Israel Prize and a member of the Israeli National Academy of Sciences.
