Amnon Cohen, the Eliahu Elath Professor of History of the Muslim Peoples, specializes in Ottoman Palestine and the Contemporary Middle East. He has published numerous books and articles on the subject. Since 1998 he is the Director of the Harry S. Truman Research Institute for the Advancement of Peace, The Hebrew University of Jerusalem. His research interests include administrative, social and economic developments of Jerusalem and its environs in the 16th century, and political parties in the West Bank under the Hashemite regime.
