Child Therapy and Education

An Object Relations Approach

By:
Synopsis
The papers in this volume have been selected with a view to grant a brief but conclusive survey of the author's work as an educator and psychotherapist.
Eliezer Ilan, influenced by the British object-relation theorists, lay emphasis in the pathogenicity of early pre-oedipal object-relations and the need for their correction in therapy. The therapeutic educator's or therapist's primary task is to function as a 'benign parental agency', which should finally be internalized and supersede the 'malign' archaic object relations.
The first part of the book deals with theoretical considerations. The second contains clinical case material resulting from therapeutic practice, and the third part is devoted to contributions in the field of psychoanalytical-oriented education. The last part reflects the author's interest in applied psychoanalysis and creativity.
