The present review is confined to the sections which between them contain all annual species of Medicago. The few perennial species included by some authors in these sections, are not considered. The present revision attempts to establish uniform nomenclature and to provide a list of synonyms, as exhaustive as possible, in spite of the great difficulties in locating type specimens.
