The problematic attitude toward democracy in the Weimar Republic by German professors, especially historians, and Jewish intellectuals is the focus of this book. The book deals mainly with Jewish intellectuals and their problematic approach to democracy in comparison with the views of German professors. The German scholars and intellectuals chosen, were the ones whose writings and opinions on democracy had a decisive influence on the public. The issues with the attitude of Jewish intellectuals was made evident by their hostile environment and the fact that they were Jewish. The common attitude of many Jewish intellectuals and German intellectuals was the anti-intellectual approach to democracy, preferring the spirit to reason. Weakening democracy paved the way for the rise of Nazism.
