Rabbi Eleazar be-Rabbi Qilar was the most prominent and prolific poet during the heyday of Hebrew liturgical poetry in Eretz Israel: between the sixth and eight centuries ACE. Some of the thousands of poems he wrote was preserved in the Ashkenaz, France and Italy machzorim, while a small part is recited in synagogues even today. This book compiles all his poems that survived for all prayers, with an attempt reproduce the full compositions.

This book investigates Ezekiel's restoration program and the way he describes Israel's future restoration. The Twelve Prophets volume of the the Hebrew University Bible Project presents a diplomatic editio maior of the text of the Hebrew Bible, based upon the Aleppo Codex, with variants from other textual testaments recorded in a system of apparatuses. The readings collated in the edition are culled from a broad variety of sources, including the ancient translations (Greek Septuagint and revisions, Latin Vulgate, Syriac Peshitta, Aramaic Targum Jonathan), Dead Sea Scrolls, biblical quotations in rabbinic literature, Genizah fragments, a broad array of medieval Hebrew manuscripts representing the Masoretic text, up to Jacob Ben-Hayyim’s Second Biblia Rabbinica of 1524-25. This extensive documentation reflects the attested transmission history of the biblical text, covering a period of almost two millennia.

Preludes is the story of the composer and conductor Noam Sheriff (1935-2018), whose life was dedicated to art and music almost from the moment he could think of it. In the first person Sheriff recounts a personal initiation story, which begins in the small Tel Aviv of the days of the British Mandate and the divided Jerusalem of the first years of the State of Israel, followed by the most renown and magnificent concert halls in Israel and around the world. In doing so, he describes some of the personalities who stood at the heart of world of music: Leonard Bernstein, Gary Bartini, Paul Ben-Haim, Arik Einstein and others. This is a story of pioneering musical activity, part of an enterprise of building Israeli culture. This is also the story of an artist who, looking back from a sober, unapologetic and unselfish perspective - recounts his achievements, doubts and personal and artistic choices.

This volume presents a selection of excepts (in the original Arabic and with a Hebrew translation) from the Eretz-Israeli Sefer Horayat Haqore , written by the prominent Karaite scholar Abū al-Faraj Hārūn ibn al-Faraj (also known as Aaron of Jerusalem), in the first half of the 11th century. The selected excerpts represent issues often discussed in the biblical orthoepy discipline, which has two components: grammatical theory and cantillation theory.

The collection was compiled on the author's eightieth birthday, and includes all the articles he has written on the study of Talmudic literature throughout fifty years of research. The articles have not been revised other than corrected citations. The two volumes are divided into seven subjects. The first volume includes articles dealing with (1) Mishnah; (2) Jerusalem Talmud; (3) Babylonian Talmud. The second volume includes articles dealing with (4) Eretz Israel and Babylon; (5) Mishnaic Hebrew; (6) Geonim and Rishonim; (7) various topics.

How might a poem acquire divine forgiveness? Ariel Zinder’s book Arise and Sing follows medieval Jewish poets from Iraq and al-Andalus as they seek answers to this pressing question. The book presents close readings of liturgical poems (piyyutim) written in the 10th and 11th centuries, and brings them into contact with contemporary literary theory as well as modern philosophical discussions of the possibility of forgiveness.
